Overview
Maharajah is a cross-platform chess game. Core gameplay does not require an account, sign-in, advertising profile, or cloud sync.
Data Collection
The app itself does not collect personal information for offline play. Game state, settings, saved games, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
Local Network Play
Maharajah may request local network access so players can host, discover, and join LAN games on the same Wi-Fi network. Local network data is used only for multiplayer connection functionality and is not used for tracking.
Online Play
When you use the online play feature, the app connects to a Maharajah server to host and relay matches. Game moves are transmitted to the server for validation and forwarding to the opponent. No personal data is sent to the server: no name, email address, phone number, or device identifier is required or collected. The only identifier the server knows is a randomly generated anonymous player ID created the first time you go online; it is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to contact or track you. The server does not store game data beyond the duration of the active match.
Optional Purchases
The app may offer optional supporter purchases through the platform store. These purchases are voluntary and do not unlock gameplay features, content, subscriptions, or competitive advantages. Purchase processing is handled by the platform store under its own terms and privacy policy.
Support Requests
If you contact support, you may choose to provide your email address, message content, screenshots, a prepared game report (via the Share button on the game screen), or diagnostic details. Game reports may include the position, move history, app context needed to reproduce an issue, and — for online matches — your anonymous player ID and the match session ID, so we can find the exact game on the server if something went wrong. Sending a report is always your choice: nothing is transmitted automatically. This information is used only to answer your request, investigate issues, and improve future releases.

The app and website may link to external pages such as project pages, contributor pages, or platform store pages. Those services may process data under their own policies.
Third-Party Distribution
Platform stores such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store, and GitHub Releases may collect analytics, purchase, crash, or download information under their own policies.
Children's Privacy
Maharajah is a general-audience board game and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated when app features, store requirements, or support processes change. The latest version will be published on this page.
